DHEA-S 

DHEA-S is the the most abundant steroid hormone produced by the adrenal gland.  DHEA-S is converted to androgens (testosterone), estrogens (estradiol) and progesterone in peripheral tissues via the DHEA route.   Measurement of DHEA-S is important to determine adrenal function, the capacity to produce androgenic and estrogenic hormones and is a good marker for overall health and wellbeing.  DHEA-S declines to 1/5th of its peak levels later in life and is therefore a good marker of biological ageing.  DHEA-S has positive wide ranging effects on an individuals health and wellness including neuroprotective roles in the brain and is often refered to as the anti-ageing hormone.
